How Fear Creates Violence in Our Lives
The Well Yoga DBQ | MAR 4, 2025

Fear is often seen as an emotion—something that comes and goes in response to danger. But fear is more than that. It is a force that shapes our actions, beliefs, and relationships, and when left unchecked, it can manifest as violence—toward ourselves and others.
Violence doesn’t always look like aggression. It can be the way we speak to ourselves—the inner dialogue that tells us we aren’t good enough, smart enough, or worthy enough. It can be self-sabotage—the way fear convinces us not to take risks, to stay small, to never fully step into who we are meant to be.
Fear manifests in different ways:
In many ways, fear disconnects us from love. When we fear, we don’t trust. We don’t surrender. We don’t see the abundance of what God has already provided. And that disconnection from love is where violence—both internal and external—begins.
Fear isn’t just in our minds; it lives in our bodies. We hold it in tight shoulders, clenched jaws, and locked-up hips. We suppress it, but our bodies remember.
That’s why movement—yoga, breathwork, meditation—can be so powerful. It allows us to release fear where it’s been stored. It helps us soften, surrender, and let go of the tension that fear creates.
We cannot eliminate fear, but we can stop letting it control us. The next time fear creeps in, try this:
When we move from fear to trust, we soften. We step into love. We step into the life we were meant to live.
At The Well Yoga Dubuque, we invite you to explore where fear may be holding you back—both on and off the mat. Through movement, mindfulness, and faith, we release what no longer serves us and awaken to the fullness of life.
Are you ready to release fear and step into love?
